Many people have told me, and I believe them that an affordable car rental in Christchurch  is not a problem. They are right. Our hotel was near the beautiful Avon River, in the center of the city. It is called the ‘river’ but actually it is a stream. I could safely wade across it at any point in the city center, I think. And small children hire little canoes and paddle in this ‘river’ in the botanical gardens just a few minute’s walk from the square in the heart of this Garden City. The hire cars are inexpensive and the service is good. We got car rental without any difficulties.
