My doctor told me how to treat panic attacks.
I went to the emergency room at the local hospital one evening. I swore I was having a heart attack. I was sweating. I was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain. I thought for sure I was having a heart attack. An ekg revealed that I did not have heart problems at all. I was having a panic attack. I was shocked at how similar the symptoms were. The emergency doctor told me to follow up with my family physician, which I did. My doctor told me how to treat panic attacks. She prescribed a medication for me to take to treat my anxiety. It decreased the frequency and severity of my attacks, but it did not free me from them. She told me what to do when I have a panic attack to decrease the severity of it and reduce the length of time that it lasts. Her advice has helped. I now feel like I am in control of my panic attacks. I no longer feel like they control me.
