Why Do Certain Foods Cause Heartburn?
Foods that cause heartburn leave many sufferers in their wake and comments like “certain foods cause me to have heartburn” is heard numerous times. How many times have you said that? Heartburn is caused by overeating rich foods, heavy meals prior to sleeping and physiological conditions causing acid reflux. Combining foods to head off acidic buildup in the stomach is recommended. Eating tomato based dishes along with a wheat based food item is enough to stave off the beginnings of heartburn. Fruits eaten in moderation along with apples or bananas will keep the acid content of the stomach to a minimum. Antacids relieve mild cases of heartburn, though chronic cases will need to be medically evaluated.
